What our customers say

The setting for this great place is unbeatable. Gorgeous views all around. We really enjoyed our stay. The staff here is extremely welcoming and kind. It was our first night's stay after the long trip over from the US, and it was so beautiful and peaceful. Wish we could have stayed longer!

We booked a stay here for 3 nights to do an Avalanche course with Anna Keeling out if Castle Hill. We were told upon arriving that a big storm was set to arrive and that we'd probably get snowed in, staying not recommended but they would take good care of us if we wanted to. We almost had the place to ourselves, had great fun in the snow with the kids from the station, went skiing up on the hill. Anna drove out to meet us there in 4wd for one of the snowed in days for the course. Tim the manager took fantastic care of us, and we ended up staying an extra day to wait for the roads to clear. Got help moving our car out of the 50cm of snow. I'll be back here again!

A beautiful entrance bridge guides you into the lodge, where you'll see swedish red buildings surrounded by large trees. The manger Tim went out of his way to get us settled into our room and then gave a tour of the property. We LOVED the lack of cell phone signal and the rooms were extremely spacious with everything you need. The food was highly priced, but very generous servings. Can't wait to book in again.

My sister and I were driving towards Arthur's pass late at night when we stumbled across this place and luckily they had a cottage Available. At $155 a night it was a steal, as we had a full 3 bedroom house. When we woke up in the morning and saw the view we immediately booked a second night. There is a full kitchen if you want to cook however the restaurant is delicious and I would highly recommend eating there. In summary such a beautiful place, with great food and lovely staff.

I organised a get-together for friends and family from as far away as Golden Bay, the West Coast and Mid-Canterbury, we met at Castle Hill and did the walks, took the obligatory photos and marvelled in the scenery, then headed back for lunch at Flockhill Lodge, from the time we arrived we were made feel welcome, the lunch was substantial and delicious, the cottages were warm (ours had a gas log fire) and scrupulously clean and comfortable. The young children had a wonderful time, playing spotlight amongst the trees and spotting fish in the lake, the group of over 30 congregated in the hall, heated by a roaring fire and sung, played charades, told jokes and stories and celebrated, just being with friends and being alive! Thank you Flock Hill Lodge for making us feel so welcome, we will be back!

Stayed here for one night in November during our 6 1/2 week holiday in New Zealand, wish we had stayed longer, lovely location with very good facilities, we ate in the restaurant during our stay and the food was most enjoyable. If you are in this area looking for accommodation then look no further that Flock Hill Lodge, you will not be disappointed

We loved this place so much. We stayed in a two-bedroom cottage which has everything you might need. It is impeccably clean, very spacious, equipped, and comfortable. The setting is gorgeous--we loved the red buildings amongst the dark green trees and mountains. Very quintessential high country. The view from on top of the Knoll is breathtaking, and the proximity to Castle Hill is ideal. What we loved the most were the staff. John is such a welcoming host--so accommodating, kind, and genuine. Our dinner was spectacular--the chef is so friendly, warm, and talented. The cottages and lodge itself are basic and understated in terms of design but there is no need for anything more--this is an authentic high country experience at an excellent value.

Our party of 3 stayed in one of the cottages. What a delight! Full kitchen, living room, two bedrooms, 1 large bath with heated towel racks (new to us from the US), and a lovely patio overlooking the lily pond and gardens. Close to Castle Hill, Pearson Lake, The Knoll on their property and Arthur's Pass. They can arrange various activities at the sheep farm plus area activities. Great restaurant and they take reservations for dinner since there isn't much else in the immediate area. Another family we met, came for 1 night and stayed for 4.

Loved my stay at flock hill and would definitely recommend to others. I stayed in the shearers quarters. Beds were comfy, rooms very clean and showers brilliant. The staff were super helpful supporting me during the uncertainty I encountered due to my luggage having been delayed during my international flight.
