Horse Trekking with Lakeside Horse Treks

Lakeside Horse Treks are by Heather Harrington. Heather uses the Natural Horsemanship method of training and riding her team of horses. This method focuses on encouraging the horse to obey because it wants to rather than through fear or pain. Natural horsemanship helps to nurture the personalities and characteristics of each individual horse.

You will be given a horse to suit your riding ability and personality and then Heather will give you a lesson on natural horsemanship riding before you embark on your horse trek. However long your ride you will enjoy spectacular scenery in the peacefulness of the high country. There will be superb photo opportunities along the way so be sure to bring your camera!

Bouldering & Exploring the Flock Hill Limestone Rocks

Nearby the Cave Stream Scenic Reserve are the amazing Flock Hill Limestone Rocks.

The limestone boulders that perch on the hillside have become world renowned and are considered one of New Zealand's best bouldering location with thousands of established problems and potential remaining for hundreds more - especially at the harder end of the scale.

Because the limestone rocks are on Flock Hill Station you will need to register your visit at the Lodge Office before entering the property.
