Skiing

Flock Hill Station is very close to four local fields: Porters, Mount Cheeseman, Craigieburn and Broken River.
 
There are also two more ski fields located within an easy drive: Temple Basin and Mount Olympus
 

There is only 20 kilometres to the Porters access road from Flock Hill Station. Porters is just under 2000 metres and has amazing views of the Southern Alps. It is a great family ski field offering runs to suit all abilities and some awesome off piste skiing.

The Mount Cheeseman access road is even closer to Flock Hill Station and the field is ideally suited to beginner and intermediate skiers. There is some well-known off piste skiing, a legendary pipe and some great jumps in the terrain park.

The access road to Craigieburn Valley is only a 5 minute drive from Flock Hill Station and the ski field has achieved cult status amongst New Zealand skiers. Criagieburn is often described as “steep, deep and cheap”, it has varied terrain is well serviced with 3 rope tows.

Broken River is accessed by a 30 minute walk, while a goods lift carries gear from the car park. It has over 300 hectares of accessible terrain, with groomed learner and intermediate slopes and easy access to more challenging skiing.

Temple Basin is on the western side of Arthurs Pass, it is a smaller field and best suited to intermediate level skiers but there is some terrain for the beginners or more advanced skier

Mount Olympus is a club field to the south near Lake Coleridge and is well known for its light powder. Mount Olympus has 60 hectares of accessible snow that offers skiing for all abilities.
